Early Childhood Assistant

Diploma Program

The early years are the most important years for children. From infancy to toddlerhood, preschool to school-age children and youth, you learn the basics such as child development, mental health support for child adolescence, inclusive education, and working with families and communities.

Learn a variety of skills needed to successfully care for and support development in children, including:

• Roles and Responsibilities
• Child, Family and Community
• Child Development
• Prenatal, Infant and Toddler Development
• Health and Safety
• Written Communication Skills
• Observation Skills
• Preschool Development
• Guiding Children
• Nutrition

Additionally, graduates can bridge to become an EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR (ECE) at Canadore College. The program was developed by National Association of Career Colleges and partnered with Canadore College to offer an ECE opportunity.

Approved as a vocational program under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.
